Our Philosophy

The role of the young child is to grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially.  Children learn by doing, touching, tasting, hearing, smelling and seeing things that are interesting to them.  With this in mind, Shomrei Torah Synagogue's Early Childhood Education Center (STS ECEC) provides activities and experiences that are concrete and relevant to children's lives.  Our school's developmental learning approach provides our children with a sense of security and community through which they can develop meaningful interpersonal relationships, with both peers and adults.

Our mission is to unite children, teachers, and families in a community that provides a positive and constructive early childhood experience.

Outdoor Classroom

The Outdoor Classroom provides for physical activity, hands-on learning, socialization through peer interaction, and multifaceted approaches to cognitive development that maximizes children's learning success.

Ma'alah Hebrew Immersion

What began as a pilot program has now evolved into a new model of excellence in utilizing Hebrew language immersion techniques to create proficient young Hebrew speakers. Research has shown that learning a second language at an early age increases learning potential throughout life.

Judaic Curriculum

Our children are introduced to Jewish living through the symbols and stories of the Jewish holidays. The Jewish calendar provides an endless variety of songs, food, fragrances and ritual objects, which create wonderful learning opportunities.

Child & Me at STS

We are ABLE to do so much with our SENSES
Specially developed for 2 months - 2 year old babies and a favorite grown-up. Every class will include music making, story time, messy edible project, and adult discussion. Our teacher, Rachel McCauley, is a board certified music therapist and a licensed speech and language pathologist. She knows that sensory experiences are essential to a baby’s brain development.
