3rd – 6th Grade ShabbatonimA highlight of our Religious School curriculum is our Shabbaton program. Students in 3rd – 6th grade participate in a full Shabbat experience in which the entirety of Shabbat is celebrated together on campus at STS, facilitated by our amazing STS teens. We pray, laugh, study, eat and stay up late!
7th Grade Sukkah SleepoverEvery year, our 7th grade students build our Education Center sukkah and then spend a fun-filled Saturday night inside. Following Havdallah, we eat dinner together and enjoy an evening of interactive study about the holiday of Sukkot. We conclude the evening with a movie projected on the sukkah walls. Sunday morning, our pajama-clad 7th graders teach the entire school about the mitzvot of the holiday of Sukkot.
Camp Ramah RetreatOnce a year, our 3rd – 7th grade students attend a retreat weekend at Camp Ramah. Our students get a taste of the camp lifestyle during this exciting weekend. The staff at Camp Ramah provides us with Jewish stories, adventures, sports, Tefillah and camp spirit.
Color WarsOur Color War program is unique and exciting, and one of the ways we bring the experiential learning approach of camp to the school environment. Our students are each assigned a color corresponding to our seven color teams. Several times a year, our color teams meet to compete in educational challenges for points. Color War is a chance for younger students to receive role modeling from older students and for older students to receive leadership opportunities. Besides that, we have fun, we learn and we make a mess! |
