In 1948, in the center of the San Fernando Valley, a group of Conservative Jewish families joined together and founded Temple Beth Ami. Meanwhile, further west in 1958, 25 families chartered the creation of Congregation Beth Kodesh in Canoga Park. Over the decades, the congregations established schools, youth groups, Sisterhoods, Men's Clubs and Senior Clubs. Seeing a need for a Jewish Day School in the Valley, CBK founded Kadima Hebrew Academy in Woodland Hills. In 1994, Congregation Beth Kodesh and Temple Beth Ami agreed to merge and become Shomrei Torah Synagogue and a new facility was built on Valley Circle Boulevard in West Hills.
